IRCK joins KARST2020 International Workshop on Conservation of Fragile Karst Resources

    From August 18 to 20, 2020, the KARST2020 International Workshop on Conservation of Fragile Karst Resources, which wasorganized by Western Kentucky University, USA was held online. Prof. Yuan Daoxian, academician with the Chinese Academy of Sciences and director of the Academic Committee of IRCK, and Prof. Cao Jianhua, executive deputy director of IRCK, attended the virtual meeting.

    During this meeting, research professor Cao Jianhua and assistant research professor Bai Bing from IRCK presented the story about the successful application of Xiangxi Global Geopark.  After showing the film of Xiangxi Geopark, the two researchers of IRCK introduced the basic information of the geopark, focusing on six areas: trilobite fossils-GSSPs, Red Stone Forest, karst platforms, karst canyons, karst hydrogeological landscapes, and Tujia and Miao ethnic cultures.The rich natural and cultural landscapes of the geopark were hailed by international scholars. The application materials and beautiful landscape pictures have aroused the great interest of many participants to learn more about Xiangxi Global Geopark. IRCK also shared its experience in contributing to the successful application of Xiangxi Global Geopark, as a key part of its work in 2019.
