IRCK attends online the Meeting of Experts Advice and Scientific and Engineering Technological Innovation Mechanism in Asia-Pacific Region

    At the invitation of UNESCO Beijing Office, a delegation from IRCK led by Prof. Cao Jianhua attended the online meeting. The meeting of Experts Advice and Scientific and Engineering Technological Innovation Mechanism in Asia-Pacific Region was organized by Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Sciences of UNESCO Jakarta. The topics include: Regional cooperation of UNESCO’s regional projects and scientific and technological engineering innovative development; discussion on UNESCO’s Asia-Pacific regional strategy and sustainability goals, meeting summary and next step.

    Most of the participants came from other related institutions including Category 2 institutes and centersunder the auspices of UNESCO in Asia-Pacific region. The first topic of the meeting was the linkage between science and engineering technological innovation and UNESCO projects. The discussion was mainly focused on six areas: science and technology policies, capacity building, women in scientific research, science and ethics in artificial intelligence, sustainable development goals and technological innovation, and scientific exchange and public science.Professor Shahbaz Khan moderated the coordination dialogue, which raised the awareness of experts in cooperation in the Asia-Pacific region. The participants also discussed how to strengthen the regional cooperation mechanism from the perspective of national science and technology policies and the national commissions for UNESCO, so as to contribute to the sustainable development goals of the United Nations and to the regional development.
